Cross pendants are popular gifts during the baptism, first communion and confirmation sacraments in the catholic religion. They are given at baptism to the child being baptized because it is the moment that they become a part of the church. They make the perfect gift from a godparent to their godchild and is a symbol of the child's belonging to the religion as well as the godparent's devotion to guiding that soul through turbulent times.
They are also given at the time of first communion as it is a symbol of the child's ability to accept the religion and it's moral code.
